This November marks the 90th anniversary of the Australian Institute of Architects. Over the last nine decades, the Institute has been the peak body for Australian architects, ensuring that your voices are heard. We have been dedicated to promoting quality and sustainable design, recognising excellence within the profession and providing the best networking events and professional development programs for our members.
Over the next 12 months, we’ll be looking back on how Australian architecture has shaped our cities and communities, and looking towards the bright future for architects and the built environments throughout Australia and beyond. Alongside our members, we’ll reflect on what we’ve learnt, what we value and what’s to be done from here.
We’d love our members to get involved in discussing the people, the places, the exemplar buildings and even the controversies that have shaped the industry, by joining us on the newly launched Community platform. And make sure to keep an eye on this page for news on upcoming events and activities.
To celebrate the Institute’s 90th birthday, here’s a snapshot of some of Canberra’s incredible architecture in a world-class designed city.
Recently the ACT Chapter held a morning tea to celebrate 90 years of the Australian Institute of Architects, with guest speakers National President-Elect Shannon Battisson, Former Commonwealth Government Architect Roger Pegrum and ACT Government Architect Catherine Townsend.
