We deliver a variety of activities aligned with the Institute’s strategic plan, including mentorship programs for student members and a program of Chapter awards and prizes. We liaise with local and state bodies as well as authorities to promote and represent the interests of our members and the community.

The Australian Institute of Architects Awards program offers an opportunity for public and peer recognition of the innovative work of our Queensland architects.
We’ve received 146 entries across the 10 categories, throughout all 7 regions.
The Queensland State Architecture Awards program is the premier built design award in the State. The Queensland Regional Architecture Awards is the first tier in a three tier National Awards program.
The commended entries from Brisbane, Central Queensland, the Darling Downs and West Moreton, Far North Queensland, the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers, North Queensland and the Sunshine Coast go forward to be shortlisted for the Queensland State Awards for further judging.

Do you have a longstanding, favourite building in QLD you feel should be recognised with an award?
This award is open to buildings of at least 25 years of age, the Enduring Architecture Award recognises achievement for the design of buildings of outstanding merit, which remain important as high quality works of architecture when considered in a contemporary context. Nominations are welcome from Institute members, non-members and non-architects, but must provide adequate content for consideration by the jury.
The Queensland Chapter offers a wide range of professional development activities for members across the state. Our initiatives include workshops with industry professionals, practice forums and webinars.
With over 2,000 members spread across Queensland, we offer and support a range of networking activities and initiatives. Our very active groups and committees work with the Chapter team to schedule enjoyable opportunities for peer-to-peer engagement.
The Institute is seeking expressions of interest to take on the role of Creative Director for the 2023 National Architecture Conference. The scope of the Creative Director’s roles and responsibilities focuses primarily on the sub-themes, content and professional development opportunities, with the formal and operational aspects being the primary focus of the Institute’s management team.
